Using Placard Wizard

 
  1. Go to the Placard Wizard link on the home page. The Placard Wizard screen appears.
     
  2. Click in the text box that corresponds with the hazardous material on the load unit device. Column one is for Non-Bulk items, Column two is for Bulk items and Column thee is for subsidiary items. (Do not enter any "Limited Quantity" weights in the text boxes)
     
  3. Type the weight in pounds.
     NOTE: To convert kilograms to pounds, click in the first the Kilogram to Pound Converter box. Type the weight in kilograms. Then, click the Click to Convert button. The equivalent weight in pounds appears in the bottom box.
    NOTE: To clear all text boxes, click Clear Boxes.
     
  4. Click Submit. Message boxes and question boxes appear containing hazardous material segregation rules for load unit devices.
     
  5. Read and answer all message boxes and question boxes as they appear.
     
  6. After you have read and answered the message boxes, the required placard names will appear in the Required Placards boxes.
    NOTE: In column two of required placards the option is given if one or more placards can be combined into using the Dangerous Placard..
    NOTE: If you have entered incompatible hazardous materials into Placard Wizard, a final message box appears warning that the illegal mixing of hazardous materials has occurred.
    NOTE: If no placard is required, the message “No Placards Required” appears in the Required Placards box. A message will appear when Placard Wizard is finished.
     
  7. Refer to one of the following sections to view the image of your placards:
    • a. View Placard
    • b. Placard Chart
       
  8. For any certain mix of hazardous materials there are many correct possible combinations of placards. Placard Wizard will give you just one correct combination. Email questions and suggestions on our contact link.

    9.   The software requires Internet Explorer 7 or higher.                                                        

  10. You must have your "pop up blocker" turned off.

                                               

NOTE: Identification Numbers are required on bulk packaging (such as cargo          tanks, portable tanks, or IBCs) or vans carrying these bulk packagings.They are also required on a vehicle or freight container loaded at one facility with 8,820 lb or more of non-bulk packaging all having the same shipping name and ID number, and no other     material (hazardous or non-hazardous) is on board.                                                            NO PLACARD REQUIRED FOR Radioactive White 1, Radioactive yellow 2, Infectious Subtances(Division 6.2), ORM-D, Any hazardous material identified on shipping paper as a "limited quantity", Domestic shipments of class 9 materials. Combustible liquid in containers of less than 119 gallons each.
